It's Almost Here!

Well, it is almost here. Tomorrow is Halloween and to me that has always meant the beginning of the holiday season. Rushing around to get those perfect gifts for those we love, big family dinners and ending with two very happy children's birthdays.

We actually went "Trick or Treating" tonight, a day early. Katie and I took Mattie May to "Trunk or Treat" at church. With the 31st falling on Wednesday this year Mattie will be in bible class, which she loves. Any time we get in the car she starts yelling "Bibull Cass, Bibull Cass". So we celebrated a day early, I don't think she minded at all.
This is our annual "family Trick or Treat picture" Makaley, Kauy and Mattie May all together in their costumes (hey, even Aunt Traci is in there!). Oh how these three love each other!
This weekend starts our holiday shopping. Christmas Carousel is this weekend and I think I have only missed it once and that was last year when we spent the opening weekend of deer season at the deer lease. So I am really looking forward to starting my shopping and sharing burritos and Dr. Pepper. So, Trina and Traci, get your walking shoes on - IT IS TIME TO SHOP! Trina, if you are not quite up to it, I know where we can borrow a wheel chair. We could show those stroller people a thing or two!!! Gee, I really sound like I am in the Christmas spirit!

Check It Out!

I was hopping from blog to blog, and came across a quiz. I enjoyed it so I added it to mine. Scroll down and you will find it on the left of the page. Take the quiz and let me know what you think. It changes every day, so keep coming back to see if you know as much as you thought you knew!

Taylor Grace update

Please put Taylor Grace and her family on your prayer list if you have not done so already. She is back in the hospital and will be having another open heart surgery next week. Please read her journal for more information. This precious little angel needs as many people praying for her as possible.

Prayer Request and Updates

I just wanted to leave a quick update on Trina. She did very well yesterday and is starting the recovery process. I took Makaley and Kauy to see her last night and they were all very glad to see each other. I am positive that she will leave us a post as soon as she is home and feeling up to the task.

Please continue to pray for her recovery and for Bill and Hymonda as they take care of the kids. They are great kids as we all know, most of the time sweet and very well behaved. But ,as normal kids, they can be a handful.

Trina, I love you and continue to place you in God's hands for your recovery.

I just received an update on Taylor Grace this morning. She is in the hospital with pneumonia and the hole in the top of her heart seems to be getting larger and is keeping her from growing. Please keep Taylor and her family in your prayers. They have a very good web site to check her condition and progress.

Is it Just Me?

I just need to know something, do I have way to much time on my hands or do other people do the same thing? I guess you need to know what that thing is. Do you go to your favorite blog, read the post, read the comments and then go check out the blogs of the people you don't know that have posted comments? I really enjoy seeing what other people are writing.

So if you are doing this, are you leaving a comment on these blogs of people who have no idea who you are? I don't. As much as I hate not having comments posted (it's like a birthday with no gifts), I am guilty of not commenting on other people's blogs. I think they will think I am some weird stalker, and they will hunt me down to make me stop.

So let me know, leave me a comment. I promise, I won't come hunt you down!:)

Ten Is Very Special

Ten is so very special. Turning ten a first, you are now in double digits. It is the last year you can show your age using your fingers. When you turn ten, you are no longer a child, you become a pre-teen. In three short years you will be a teenager.

Makaley is turning ten today. She is so excited and has every right to be. When she was born, it had been thirteen years since there had been a baby in the family and everyone was so happy. We all crammed into that hospital room to welcome her.

Makaley, you are so very special to me and I am glad you are such a beautiful young lady and my cousin. You are always such a sweet, loving girl and show true concern for those you love. Thank you for always setting a Christian example for those around you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAKALEY. I LOVE YOU!

Writer's Block

I thought it was just me. I have not issued a post in over a week. I just didn't have anything clever to say. This morning I had a minute to look at some friends post and to my amazement - no post from them either. Does everyone have writer's block like me? Is there just so much going on that no one has time to write? The world may never know!

Wear Pink

I am not a person that prepares clothes for work the night before like I should, so this leaves me a little stressed in the mornings trying to decide what to wear. This being Monday morning, I really don't want to get dressed anyway, but I do find my black slacks and my pink "Tittle Luther" shirt that Mike gave me for Christmas the first year I worked here. I love this shirt, the bright pink always makes me feel happy.

On my way to work, an ad came on the radio reminding me that October is "Breast Cancer Awareness Month" and that I should wear pink. OK, first day of the month, Monday morning and I have already done something good! I am on track with the game!

I know we all know someone that has been diagnosed with this horrible disease. Many may be survivors, some may be receiving treatment now, and some may be wonderful people whose memory live on in our hearts. So remember to wear pink this month for support or in memory of someone dear, even if it is a small ribbon pinned close to your heart. Day one is almost over, only 30 left. This is a simple thing to do.

Don't you just love Fall?

Being an Abilene girl for the majority of my life, I am used to just two seasons, Summer and Winter. I know we are luckier than some people who live in climates that are warm all year or cool all year. We usually notice the passing of our two seasons by waking up in the morning. When it goes from winter to summer, you have gone to bed in flannel pajamas with the heater on only to awake burning up running to change to the air conditioner as quickly as possible. When it goes from summer to winter it it just the opposite.

This has been a very off weather year here in good ol' Abilene, TX. We have had enough rain to get us out of a decade long drought, very few days over 1oo degrees this past summer, and we are actually getting to have a fall! The mornings have been "brisk" and nice, the leaves are falling from the trees just a little at a time instead of all on one morning after a heavy frost. This morning when I got to work I noticed the sun was a little lower and further to the south than it has been. The days are getting shorter too. Instead of sweltering at football games, they have been nice and cool, not yet needing a sweater but not melting in the heat either.

I am rambling. I don't really even have a point other than I am really enjoying this fall weather.
