I love Bad Weather Days

I know I don't have kids in school but I do have Mattie May and her day care goes by the same schedule that AISD goes by. No school! We stayed in the house all day long. Just the two of us. I loved it!!!

We had breakfast and lunch together, read, watched movies, and played. We also took the opportunity to bake some more cookies! Chocolate chip this time. Surprisingly enough, she was patient enough for me to take pictures. It usually takes me helping with the cooking and Katie taking pictures to get some good enough to post, but today we just had fun and took our time.

While she napped I worked on putting the scrapbook together. I hope you enjoy the pictures and that you get time to try the recipe sometime.

I love Sundays

I just love Sundays. They are family day. Not just my family, but the time I get to spend with my family in Christ.

This morning, it was just Mattie B and I that headed to church. Mattie May had the beginnings of an ear infection so we decided she should probably stay home (we didn't want to expose all the other kiddos). It was cold, around 29 degrees and I had a head ache, but I still went to church. Mat and I have some great conversations and I don't get to spend near enough time with her, just the two of us anyway.

After a wonderful service and taking Mat back home, I came home and made a late breakfast for my family. Mambled eggs, sausage and bisquits. Still with a headache, I went and took a nap. After sleeping longer than I should have, Mattie May and I made oatmeal cookies. I have attached the scrapbook I made to the bottom of this post. I try real hard to be a clean cook, tiding up as I go. But working with a toddler... well it isn't always so clean. This is what happens when you don't watch her every move...

Yeap, that is oatmeal all over the cabinet and floor. After we had put the oatmeal in the batter I walked over to get a spoon to mix it with, she leaned over using the bowl for balance, and, well, over it went. Oatmeal everywhere. It was easy to get cleaned up. We have just bought a new handbroom and dustpan, so I just swept it up and dumped it back in and we were back on track!

Oh, come on! I am just joking! I cleaned up the mess, measured out more oatmeal and we finished our task. I must say, they were a very tasty dessert after a wonderful meal of pork chops and sausage that Frank cooked out on the grill. Mattie May was asleep by 7:30 because she is still not feeling her best.

It has been a wonderful day. I am so blessed. Enjoy the scrapbook and have a great week.

Pigs, Poop and Pat

We had a great weekend! Nothing spectacular, just laid back and not rushed. We rarely get to have time like this. There is always something going on that we have to get to. We did have a few times like this but it was all still pretty calm and nice.

My cousins daughter, M, showed pigs at the Taylor County show. Her son has been very involved but is to young to show at county until next year. I say involved; if it were not for his Big and his wife, these two kids probably would not be involved with pigs at all! I took pictures, but Ashley's are much better so pop on over to her blog to check them out! K is such a ham (bad choice of words) when it comes to pictures. I took off Friday so I could be at the show, then on Saturday, Frank and I decided to check out the sale. We have lots of friends whose children show so we saw lots of people we know and had a great time.

After the sale we decided we would eat an early supper and then head over to the movie. We shared some quesadillas at Abuelo's then went to see "Valkrie". I am not a fan of these types of movies nor am I a big fan of Tom Cruise, but I must say this one held my attention. We had lots of pop corn and soda even though we had just eaten.

We like to sit on the upper front row so we can prop our feet up on the railing. Just below and to the right of where we were sitting was another couple and her head was just about even with my feet. It did not occur to me until almost the end of the show that I had been walking around the stock barn for the past two days and my shoes did not smell all that great! Frank said after the movie that poor woman probably found management and told them there was a terrible smell in the theater!!! The pig poop is just the most difficult stuff to get off your shoes!!!

After the movie we headed down to the Civic Center to check out the telethon for the West Texas Rehab. I love to go down there and check out all the auction items. I never bid on anything because it is all pretty pricey, but the people who donate the quilts just amaze me! The hours they spend on those and the craftsmanship is amazing. We ran into more friends there and a couple of our friends, Brandon and Brandy, had extra tickets to the show so we got to see Pat Green perform. I like most of his music; he is after all a Texas boy!

Sunday was church in the morning and naps in the afternoon. God blessed us with a great weekend! Hope yours was as relaxing as ours was. We are looking forward to a busy week.

Mattie May is THREE!

I can not believe my beautiful Mattie May is three years old. Her birthday was actually a week ago when Frank and I were out of town, but Katie had her birthday today. Lots of family and church family were there. They had such a great time.

Happy Birthday my little princess. Grumpy and I love you so very much.
