What's Wrong With This Picture

Last night, we went to the movie.

Katie, Mattie May, Makaley, Kauy, and me.

It was great fun.

Before the movie, we ate at Burger King, you know, fill the tummy a bit so we don't eat to much popcorn.

We had a great time.

I snapped this picture of Mattie May while she was eating.

As cute as she is, there is something wrong with this picture.

Do you see what it is?

If you've known my family or read this blog for a while, I am sure you will notice as soon as you look.
Figured it out yet?

It's there, right before your eyes!

Give up?

Are you ready?

That is my Mattie May, even though I don 't necessarily recognize her!

She didn't want dog ears!

She said she is a big girl now and wanted to wear a headband!

I guess now I have to call her my granddaughter
and not my grand baby any more!

Does she really have to grow up?

She's Turning Us Green

This is Earth Week.

They are learning about being "GREEN" at school.

Last night Frank was in mowing when we left for the grocery store.

As we headed out the door, she stopped and yelled "WAIT!" and
and ran to the back room.

We heard the TV cut off.

"if your not in a room turn off the lights and TV so you don't waste energy!"

Yep!

We are learning to be green!

Pixie Dust

She's four, which means she is into all things Princess and Fairies.

She almost always wears a tiara or wings.

Sometimes both!

She and Katie went on a short trip Saturday.

They past a field almost full of Bluebonnets.

"Look Mommie! Blue Pixie Dust!"You just have to love that imagination!

Glad it was Warm Outside

We got home from some where the other night, for the life of me, I don't remember where we had been. Mattie May took off running to the side of the house. I was hollering at her to stay in the front with me, but I was too late.

She had already found the water faucet which was hooked up to the sprinkler!

(Sorry the picture is blurry! I did well to get a picture at all!)

Dinner

Katie took me and Mattie May to eat tonight.
Nothing fancy.
Mattie May wanted Dairy Queen, steak fingers and fries.
When she got her meal, she decided she wanted a sandwich,
so she made one with her steak fingers and ketchup!

Looks yummy huh?

She just had to have a quarter for the gumball machine!

Glad she got a yellow one!

Texas in Bloom

THE BLUEBONNETS HAVE ARRIVED!!

Spring in Texas means the landscape is alive with vibrant colors. The favorite of most Texans is our state flower, the Bluebonnet. I don't imagine there is any Texas child that isn't photographed at least once in a field of blue at least once before they reach school age. It is sort of a right of passage.

The past few years, the wildflowers have not been very abundant. Drought conditions have kept them from covering the state for about fours years. I'm not a botanist, but Mattie May is four and this is the first year there have been this many flowers since she was born.

Thanks to God for sending an unusual amount of rain in the fall, some unusually high snow falls, and just enough spring showers, Texas true colors are showing this spring.

This field is one of my favorites about a mile (as the crow flies) from my mom's house. It is glorious. When we told Mattie May we were going to go look for Bluebonnets, she wasn't real happy. But when she saw the field, she couldn't wait to get out and run through it. I think she thought we were going to look for hats!

Mattie May's Merry Musings - Just Funny

She just makes us laugh.

Frank or I usually pick up Mattie May from the day care which means Katie has to come get her from us. When they leave to go home, no matter what time of the day, we always tell Katie to call us when they get home. You know, it's just that parent thing. Tonight they leave and in just a bit, my phone rings and it's Katie. Their home, we'll talk tomorrow, and I love you. Just our normal conversation.

About 30 seconds after I hang up, my cell phone rings and it's Katie's number. I answer "Hello?"

"Lolo?" (It's Mattie May)

"Yes, Sweetie?"

"I'm home too!"

Maybe we won't have to remind her to call when she starts driving!

Mattie May's Merry Musings - Decorating Eggs

My favorite quote while decorating Easter eggs -

We set up her little table in the middle of the kitchen, lined up cups with the egg dye, and set out the bowl of eggs waiting for their new spring outfits. This year, she got to do the coloring all by herself. She is four after all. How big a mess could she really make. After dropping one egg in each cup, she picked up one that was still in its white dress, gave it a big hug and told me she was just going to decorate it with stickers. "Lolo, I am just putting a cross on this one. That is what we remember this weekend, that Jesus died on the cross. He lives in heaven now you know."

Sweet innocent truth. Thank you Mattie May.

Mattie May's Merry Musings - Egg Hunt

My favorite quote from the egg hunt.

There where lots of kids at the Easter EGGStravaganza Saturday. Mattie May was ready to hunt some eggs. Off they went. Katie and Mattie May ran off, I tried to keep up so I could try to get some pictures. Mattie May was picking up eggs as fast as she could when she suddenly stopped, looked up at her mom and said

"Mom, I think I have enough. I'm through. The other kids can have the rest."

And with that, she was done!

Happy Easter!

WOW! It's been a while since I posted! All is well, I guess I have just been at a loss of words! Yeah, I know what most of you are saying, me, a loss of words, no way. Well, I have.

We had a wonderful weekend. Below is my favorite picture, unedited, from the ones I took during all the celebrations we had. As one of my Facebook buddies said, she looks so happy to be where she is.
Yeah, me too. This was a great weekend and I was so happy to be where I was and where I am. I will post more later. I just wanted you to know, I am still here!
