24 Years ago today -"Do you take this man...

Yes, Frank and I were married 24 years ago today on a very cold day in front of the fire place at my mom's house. Our family and friends gathered to watch as we took our vows. I wore blue and my brides maid wore white and made it through even though she had a 104 temperature and was battling the flu.

Of the vows we took, some have the same meaning today as they did 24 years ago. But for others the meanings have changed. "Will you love him, comfort him, honor and keep him" have been the easy ones to keep. "In sickness and in health", yes we have been sick, but for the most part for us, Katie and Mattie May, it has been health. We have seen so many families devastated by things that could not be changed and we are so blessed to never have had to walk that road. "For richer, for poorer" the poorer for us has been the same as for others. We have faced pay cuts and job loss, but have always felt richer because we have been blessed with such a wonderful family to carry us through, I have always said "I may not be wealthy, but I am richer than anyone else I know!" "For better, for worse, in sadness and in joy", these go hand in hand, but God has always been there and we tend to only remember the better and the joy.

So thank you Frank for making the past 24 years a whirlwind of fun and happiness. I just can't imagine what the next 24 have in store!

  1. Bless you on your anniversary! Thank you so much for your comments on my blog - what a bizarre thing to spend time doing when it is nearly 80 degrees outside here in beautiful Texas! Hope you and your sweetie have many more years together - God means for us to have someone to work with and care for.

  3. AND I remember that day....sorta...104 temp. can make you a little ditzy! I do believe we wore the same suits? I could be wrong...I definately was about the length of time I gave this marriage. Thought you would have killed him first! ha ha I am proud of you. Congratulations. I know it has been hard work. I know there have been many frustrations! Wow ...look at you. Besides my parents, you are the ones with the chance to hit 50. I will help with the celebration!

  4. Skunk in the middle of town??? I think that is blogworthy! :) Thanks for the uplifting words! I am trying to be positive... but there are times that it just gets to me! As I posted each of those blogs I was half laughing half growning... which is how most days seem to go lately! :) But I do keep reminding myself that it could so be worse and rejoice in the bug and smells!

  5. Hi Brandi, I don't want to be a blogger hypocrite, so I wanted to let you know I was here! : ) I found your blog through a log cabin blog, then your fishing blog, to this one! My sister-in-law in NC is building a cabin. I am in AL, but was looking up some info. for her! I hope you and your husband had a wonderful 25th wedding anniversary. My husband and I are about to celebrate our
19th! The Lord has been our strength and comfort these 19 years and we wouldn't be here if it were not for Him. He has blessed us greatly and He is worthy of my praise! I appreciate your scripture verse for the day as well. Come visit my blog sometime!! God Bless...

Well, I'm sorry but I have had to turn the word verification back on. I have had some things come across my comments that I don't want on there and I think this will solve the problem. To all of you that leave comments regularly, I apologize. Maybe I will be able to take it off soon!
