What She learned Today

This is one of those post with a long story before I get to the actual cuteness so please bear with me.

Mattie May has been attending her first Vacation Bible School this week. It has been wonderful. This year the title is "Paul and the Underground Church". The entire church has been transformed into ancient Rome with a marketplace, a coliseum and of course an underground church.

Tonight's theme was "God's Love is With You All the Time". It was great. I love hearing these little voices lifting praise to God in song and verse. If you ever get the chance to visit a VBS, do it. These kids will work miracles on your heart.

On the way home tonight, I asked Mattie May what she learned. "That God's love is with me all the time." WOW! She was paying attention! Next I asked her what would make God take his love away from her. "ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!" was her reply. I thought this was so cute, my little three year old granddaughter learning the truth in such a simple way. So I asked her if I could record her when we got home so I could keep this precious little piece of time for posterity. She said "Sure" in her cute little MM way.

We get to their apartment and Katie is there to meet us. When she takes her out of the car seat, I tell her we need to record something, thinking this would be a good way for Katie and Buddy to see her cute and honest answers. The recording follows and I must say, it was not quite what I expected...

I guess next time I need to be a bit more specific when I ask her to do something for me!!!!

Sandwich

1sand·wich

Pronunciation: \ˈsan(d)-ˌwich, ˈsam-; dialect ˈsaŋ-\
Function:
noun
1 a: two or more slices of bread or a split roll having a filling in between b: one slice of bread covered with food

Mattie May has gotten into the habit of getting herself a "little snack" before we leave for school in the mornings. I don't mind because she is still eating a good breakfast when she gets there so no harm done.

This morning I heard something rattling in the kitchen and went in to check. She was standing on her little pink stool and had her arm completely inside the bread bag. "I gettin' son bread" she tells me and I'm OK with that and continue to get ready to get out the door.

On our way out, she is still eating her bread and I notice she has more than one piece. I ask her "Mattie May, whatcha eatin'?" Those big blue eyes look up at me and she sweetly says "A samdwich."

"What kind of sandwich?" I ask as I take a closer look.

"A bread samdwich!" Yep, she has a slice of bread "sandwiched" between two more slices of bread!

Life is so good!

TOOOO CUTE

It seems lately that all commercials on TV are just lame. But this Dairy Queen commercial I think will be one of my all time favorites!

What is your all time favorite commercial? Or your favorite now?

Learning by Example

I posted this a while back and had to remove it for reasons a lot of you know. I decided I would post it again since it wasn't up for very long. I hope you enjoy it again.

I am always after Katie for leaving stuff laying around, especially things that Mattie May can get into.

A few months back, as I sat with Mattie May fixing her hair, I noticed that Katie had left her tweezers (again) on the lamp table. Being in the usual rush to get Mattie May and me both ready for the day, I did not pick them up.

I finished her hair, gave her a kiss and her cup, and sat her on her blanket to watch "Micka Mouse" while I finished getting dressed. From my bedroom I could see her get up and go towards the sofa. I headed that way. Before I could get there, she went running towards the bathroom. I watched as she jumped up on her stool, then she just stood there. What was she doing?

I had to take a breath to keep from laughing out loud. There she stood, looking in to my little magnifying mirror that she had in her left hand and the tweezers in her right hand holding them up to her eye brow. She just stood there, no movement.

When I asked her what she was doing, she only replied "Momma". She was imitating what she had seen Katie do many times! At this point I did laugh out loud, but my answer to her was "Yes, you are doing like your momma, but your momma should have put these up". She puckered up and gave me a great big kiss and a hug and we continued getting ready, brushing our teeth, closing up the house and heading on to day care and work.

I know I am rambling again and everyone is surely tired of all my Mattie May stories. I just felt this was a cute and funny example to prove a point - Watch what you do in the sight of your children, because they are certainly watching you!

This is What I Thought

Last week I posted this picture -
and asked you to tell me the first thing that came to your mind.
Well I must say, Anne commented first and had the same thought I had. This is what I think my two cousins, Trina and Traci, and I will look like in the future (the very distant future!).

Even though Anne said it first, the others got it right too. But there is some confusion as to which woman is which cousin. Well I will just say, Trina has always worn blue, Traci has always been the middle and I love bright colors. But you could also say Trina has the thinest face, mine is the roundest and Traci is not the tallest of the three. It is so hard to tell because, dadgumit, we are all three just so darn cute! See this picture from our past and you be the judge.

This picture also proves Trina's point in her last comment, I did used to be a blonde!
