Com'on!

I AM SO EXCITED!

Bear with me while I do some rambling before I get to the real excitement. I read "Today's Scripture" (Zechariah 8:21) from Heartlight.org and a couple of pictures came to mind. The first picture that came to mind, of course, was my Mattie May. Any time we are getting ready to go somewhere, we tell her "Go to the front door," and being the perfect obedient child that she is, she does as told. If she has to wait anytime at all, she comes running back yelling "Com'on, com'on". Oh so cute in her little toddler voice. She is always excited to anywhere.

The next picture I have is one of a lizard in her "Baby Einstein - Baby Noah" DVD. He is sitting on a rock, "waving" with his front foot as if to say "Come on, join me for the fun". This is an actual lizard, not animated. Just how long did the videographer have to wait for that perfect shot?

These two images along with "Today's Scripture" lead to my excitement. Sunday is Celebration Sunday at Southern Hills and I am excited. What better way to lead our community to Christ! Tell everyone you know to "Com'on! Meet me on Sunday. Let me tell you about Christ my Saviour!"

If you are going to be there, I will see you there. If you are interested in coming, leave me a comment and I will tell you more! I hope you are as excited as I am!

Sort of a Boring Week

This past week has been rather uneventful one, nothing good to write about.

But I do have a request for all of you, please keep my family in your prayers, especially Katie. As most of you know, she is going through a divorce. This is never a happy event, but sometimes a marriage is ended due to circumstances beyond any one's control.

So far every thing has gone well. Both have agreed to the custody arrangement and visitation. Tomorrow is the first temporary hearing. They will be ordered to attend a class on divorce with children and child support should be set. We have no reason to believe that things won't go as expected, but you just never know.

So please pray for her and Mattie, pray that everything goes well. Pray for Buddy and his family, I know they are going through the same stress that we are. Pray for the judge and both attorneys, that they do their jobs to the best of their ability. Pray that all parties involved do their best to come to a solution that is in the best interest of Mattie May.

Even though the marriage is being dissolved, Buddy and his family will still be a very valuable/important part of all of our lives. Please pray that we all continue to get along and do what is right for Mattie.

Who Has Taken My Sweet Granddaughter?

We were so excited to go out. My dear friend Patti was in Abilene for the night and we were going to meet her for supper. We didn't hesitate to get Mattie May ready to go with us because she is always so good in a restaurant (as good as a 1 1/2 year old can be).

We all dressed and made sure she looked as cute as possible (not hard to do!) and we proceeded to the restaurant.

All was well, we got to our table, our friends arrived and the waiter took our drink orders. We sat and visited for a while enjoying the time we were having and then IT happened. Mattie started to misbehave. I am not talking about normal toddler stuff. We tried to keep her calm with crackers, drinks, even crayons, but nothing was working.

When our food arrived, we thought things would be fine. Oh no! She continued to scream. An older gentleman leaving another table bent over and told her it would be
OK because they were leaving. I know he meant well, but I was so embarrassed. This was just not normal behavior for Mattie.

We finally decided that Katie would take her to the car and watch a movie (thank goodness Frank talked me into the DVD package on my Yukon).

Things were quite enough now that we could finish our meal. The waiter had just brought the box for us to pack up Katie's food when were heard her. They were coming back in and Mattie was screaming and crying just as loud as ever.

We moved our party outside trying to relieve the patrons and staff inside. We were able to visit for a minute or two outside before she started hollering to go.

Where in the world is my precious Mattie May? Who has taken her? If found, please return her as soon as possible. This kid we have is a brat!

Great Times

If you know me, you know that I am a member of a wonderful family. I am not just talking about my immediate family of Frank, Katie and Mattie. But my BIG family - my dad's side is fairly large and includes a huge extended family and my mom's side, well, that includes "everyone else".

That everyone else starts at 20 months old and goes up to 91 years. Now this is something we are all very proud of - five very vibrant and active generations. Last night, my grandmother, 91 year old Mattie B, wanted to go to the fair and take Mattie May. Because of aging knees, she has not been able to adventure out to the fair grounds for several years, that is way to much walking for her. So my mom arranged to borrow my great aunts wheel chair and off we went.

It is always an adventure to go anywhere with any member of my family, but Mattie B is all about the fun. She worries that someone is not having a good time and we all are worrying about having her out where she should not be.

It is amazing how many people know her. In every building someone would stop and talk to us. She would have us get all around so she could show everyone her five generations. This is great, but there is not a lot of room in some of the buildings between the displays. It didn't matter to her, she was showing off her family. I think she even got a little angry with us when we wouldn't interrupt the 6 o'clock news cast being broadcast from the round building! I really don't think Downing Bolls would have been very happy with that, but she wanted all of Abilene to know we were having fun at the fair.

Our short little trip turned into 3 1/3 hours of eating, visiting, eating, fun and, oh yeah, did I mention eating? We visited the petting zoo, looked at the photos and arts & crafts, spent quite awhile looking at the beautiful quilts, checked out all the cool stuff in the Display Building and Mattie B told the cotton man in Planet Agriculture how she picked cotton all her life. We ate tacos, chocolate covered strawberries, funnel cake, frozen chocolate dipped cheese cake and even deep fried coke (we don't recommend this treat), we tried it all!

You never know what the coming year will bring. But hopefully, the good Lord will allow us to do it all again next year and include the rest of "everyone else".

She is such a Big Girl

This is West Texas Fair week in Abilene. This is one of the biggest events that happen all year. EVERYONE looks forward to the food, the rides, the rodeo and did I mention the food? Can everyone say Fresh Squeezed Lemonade? I can't remember a year we did not go to the fair.

Monday night we go with Trina and her kids because it is dollar ride night. Last year Mattie could only ride the carousel with her mommy holding tight to her. But this year, she surprised us all. She still loves the carousel, but this year she got to ride the Ferris wheel and the four wheeler ride. She loved this ride. She first road it with Kauy, but the second time she got to ride it all by herself.

She is such a big girl. Next year she will probably want to ride everything all by herself!

Almost Home

It is Sunday evening, our tournament is over, Frank is in the room watching football and our trip is winding down to a close. We have had a great, very blessed week, but it is always so nice walk into to those sweet little arms, hear her call "Lolo and 'Bumby'" and sleep in your own bed. I have missed my two "girls" so much and am ready to see them. Not that I have not loved our vacation (we won 4th place in our tournament), but I guess I really do like the normal days of working and coming home knowing your really are loved there.

Mattie, we will be home tomorrow. That is in one more day. Show your mommy you do know "one" on your fingers (I know you like to skip to two) and be ready for some hugs and kisses from me.

Keep Watch Over Them

Frank and I leave tomorrow for a fishing tournament in Del Rio. We will be gone for five nights and five days. I don't remember being away from my Mattie for that long. I hope she doesn't forget who I am!
Those of you that are still home, please keep a watchful eye on Katie and Mattie. And Mattie, please remind your momma of all that should be done. I know you will remember to feed the dog.
