Puppies, Puppies, and More Puppies - 99 to be Exact!

We have a new favorite movie in our house. Disney's "One Hundred and One Dalmatians". Frank and I bought this movie about two weeks ago and I bet we have watched more than any other movie yet. She just loves this one. She rubs her little hands together when they are trying to bring the new puppy back to life, she loves when they are all watching TV and the villain scares poor Lucky, and she cries every time when she thinks the truck carrying the puppies has wrecked.

I love Disney movies. I know in most cases she can watch and we don't have to worry about content. But this time, they use the word "idiot" at least seven times. I am not to wild about that, but she hasn't tried to use it yet so maybe I am worrying over nothing.

I don't think this is the best work of Disney. The animation has several flaws. I know, it is just an animated movie. But when you watch something as often as we have watched this, you notice these things. I am just glad it is warm and light until about 8PM. We have been enjoying a walk and her new swing set too!

Learning by Example

I posted this a while back and had to remove it for reasons a lot of you know. I decided I would post it again since it wasn't up for very long. I hope you enjoy it again.

I am always after Katie for leaving stuff laying around, especially things that Mattie May can get into.

A few months back, as I sat with Mattie May fixing her hair, I noticed that Katie had left her tweezers (again) on the lamp table. Being in the usual rush to get Mattie May and me both ready for the day, I did not pick them up.

I finished her hair, gave her a kiss and her cup, and sat her on her blanket to watch "Micka Mouse" while I finished getting dressed. From my bedroom I could see her get up and go towards the sofa. I headed that way. Before I could get there, she went running towards the bathroom. I watched as she jumped up on her stool, then she just stood there. What was she doing?

I had to take a breath to keep from laughing out loud. There she stood, looking in to my little magnifying mirror that she had in her left hand and the tweezers in her right hand holding them up to her eye brow. She just stood there, no movement.

When I asked her what she was doing, she only replied "Momma". She was imitating what she had seen Katie do many times! At this point I did laugh out loud, but my answer to her was "Yes, you are doing like your momma, but your momma should have put these up". She puckered up and gave me a great big kiss and a hug and we continued getting ready, brushing our teeth, closing up the house and heading on to day care and work.

I know I am rambling again and everyone is surely tired of all my Mattie May stories. I just felt this was a cute and funny example to prove a point - Watch what you do in the sight of your children, because they are certainly watching you!

Happy Easter

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Easter.
Last night Katie helped Mattie May and Nikki decorate eggs to be hidden after Sunday lunch. The girls did real good, but I had to keep reminding Katie that it was OK if Mattie wanted to dip the egg in blue and then pink. Let those little imaginations grow. When doing art, there is no right or wrong as long as the kiddos are having fun.
Mattie May showing me what the egg looked like before she dropped it in the dye. And she did drop it! I am sure some of the eggs will be dyed when the shell comes off.

She learned to put it in the lighter color first so she choose pink.

She like the pink and purple and learned quickly that she needed to put it in the pink dye first and then the blue to get it to really look like purple.

I know we probably should have put some clothes on her. But it was really easy to clean her up when she was finished.

She wanted to decorate her first pink egg with stickers. I was afraid we were going to run out of room on the egg before she ran out of stickers.

Sunday morning we all went to church and heard a wonderful sermon by Phil. He did a really good job (again). He also showed a film about the Death, Burial and Resurrection that the children could understand. Mattie May even sat still through the entire film as I read the words to her. We all enjoyed it.

We gathered at Aunt Traci and Uncle Tim's for lunch. She had the table set so cute. We had a wonderful meal.

Mattie May just loves her great grandTiger!

I just love her little smile. I think the doily on the back of Aunt Traci's chair gives her a look of Bunny Ears.

I tried to get a picture of all four kids but they would not all look at the camera at the same time. Nikki, Makaley, Mattie May and Kauy.

Katie with Mattie May and Nikki in their polka dot dresses and matching bows. They looked so cute.

After lunch, it was time to hunt eggs. Everyone watch out for the stampede!

I can't tell if this is a show in tell or a disagreement, but

Nikki was smiling in this next photo, so I guess everything turned out OK.

Still hunting for eggs.

Mattie May had a pretty full basket.

Saying "Cheese" for Lolo to take her picture.

The big girls sat on the front porch with Uncle Tim,

While Mattie May went in to show BB all that she had found.

I hope everyone got to enjoy Easter Sunday as much as we did. It is always fun when our family can get together and have lunch after church like we used to every Sunday when we were kids. We have some pretty awesome memories from that and we hope our children have the same kind of memories when they are our age.

This is What I Thought

Last week I posted this picture -
and asked you to tell me the first thing that came to your mind.
Well I must say, Anne commented first and had the same thought I had. This is what I think my two cousins, Trina and Traci, and I will look like in the future (the very distant future!).

Even though Anne said it first, the others got it right too. But there is some confusion as to which woman is which cousin. Well I will just say, Trina has always worn blue, Traci has always been the middle and I love bright colors. But you could also say Trina has the thinest face, mine is the roundest and Traci is not the tallest of the three. It is so hard to tell because, dadgumit, we are all three just so darn cute! See this picture from our past and you be the judge.

This picture also proves Trina's point in her last comment, I did used to be a blonde!

This Picture Made Me Laugh!

Leave me a comment and let me know what is the first thing that pops into your mind when you see this picture.

I will let you know which comment is closest to mine. ENJOY!

Pondering Ponder

Well, they had a good run, but the Jim Ned boys lost in the final game of the season to Ponder. There is just something about this team that Jim Ned just can't get past.

Our boys had a very good run. They were never ranked and still played their way to the Championship game. According to a news report Frank and I heard on our way to Austin, there are 209 2AA teams in Texas. So I would say, making it all the way to the State Championship game is something to be extremely proud of. They battled through some tough games and gave everyone something to be excited about.

Congratulations on all you accomplished this season and we will see you again next year.

THEY WON

The Jim Ned boys won against New Waverly this morning in an impressive 62 to 41 victory. I did not get to go to the game so i have no pictures for this one. I will be at the stated championship game tomorrow.

I wish you boys all the luck! Play your game and you will do well.

Question: Has any school every swept the state basketball title, 2A or otherwise? I would just like to know.

The Picture Tells the Story, Again

Sometimes you just have to let the pictures tell the story!

Congratulations Rene'e and Shelby and the rest of the Jim Ned Lady Indians.

We can't wait 'til next year!
